What You Will Learn

The New Structure of the PMP Exam

This course takes you through the new structure of the PMP Exam — "Creating a High-Performing Team," "Starting the Project," "Doing the Work," "Keeping the Team on Track," and "Keeping the Business in Mind" — with practical discussions and case studies to build solid understanding.

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a project manager across predictive, iterative, and adaptive environments.
  • Understand how projects operate in any environment and how that environment shapes the PM’s role.
  • Differentiate between project lifecycles and tailor tools, techniques, and models to your organization.
  • Engage the team in developing a detailed project management plan (scope, schedule, cost baselines).
  • Plan projects in adaptive environments — release planning, iteration planning, and product roadmaps.
  • Collect and analyze requirements, decompose deliverables with WBS, and define scope baselines.
  • Understand how Agile teams build the product backlog to prioritize work by size and value.
  • Develop a detailed schedule using critical path, critical chain, pull-based scheduling, and Kanban.
  • Apply estimation tools and techniques to develop budgets, cost baselines, and funding requirements.
  • Define quality standards, metrics, and tools to build quality in and inspect/correct defects.
  • Plan the resources required to develop project deliverables.
  • Apply tools and conflict-resolution techniques to develop team skills and manage issues.
  • Apply interpersonal and leadership skills to create a safe environment for the team.
  • Plan and manage risk, engaging the team to adopt risk management practices.
  • Understand procurement management and how PMs engage with procurement to acquire vendor resources.
  • Apply communication and stakeholder engagement skills across the project lifecycle.
  • Discuss PMI’s Code of Ethics — honesty, fairness, responsibility, and respect.
